Important Notes

Florida FDLE background checks are apostilled by the Florida Secretary of State.

FBI Identity History Summary reports are apostilled by the U.S. Department of State (federal apostille) — we handle the D.C. courier process.

Processing times vary by document type and issuing agency. Timing confirmed after document review.

Prepare your documents with confidence

An FDLE or other state report should be ordered only when the recipient accepts that type of check. Confirm the report format and recency before arranging authentication.

A background-check request starts with the type of report required by the recipient. An FBI report, a state criminal-history record and a local police document are not automatically substitutes for each other. Confirm the issuing agency, accepted format and required recency before ordering a report or scheduling fingerprint capture.

Check that all pages, certification sheets and attachments are present. Keep the recipient’s written instructions and confirm where completed documents should be delivered. Timing is confirmed after document review and depends on preparation, the competent authority, translation and delivery.

Tell us the document, its issuer, destination country and intended use, and your deadline. We will review preparation, translation and delivery options before confirming an estimate and timing. Ask for instructions before mailing originals. Please mail with a tracking number.

  • Confirm whose instructions govern the request: employer, consulate, licensing body or another receiving office.
  • Check whether the accepted report is electronic, paper or agency-certified, and whether a particular certification is required.
  • Keep federal and state authentication routes separate; a notarized photocopy should not be used to disguise the issuer of an official report.
Can I use a state check if the recipient requests an FBI report?

Only if the receiving authority confirms that substitution is acceptable. Obtain its instructions before ordering so you avoid paying for a report it will not accept.

What should I confirm before requesting an estimate?

Provide the document, issuer, destination, intended use, number of copies and deadline. Include the recipient’s checklist if available. This allows preparation, certification, translation and delivery to be reviewed before a cost estimate is confirmed.
