Prepare your documents with confidence

For a name change, identify the official record that established the change and the receiving office’s accepted evidence. An affidavit explaining a different name may not replace the certified underlying record.

A court document should be prepared as the receiving office requests, including any certification and relevant attachments. A judgment, docket printout and civil-status certificate are different records. Authentication of a court signature does not by itself enforce a judgment abroad, establish jurisdiction or replace the procedure required by the foreign authority.

Check that all pages, certification sheets and attachments are present. Keep the recipient’s written instructions and confirm where completed documents should be delivered. Timing is confirmed after document review and depends on preparation, the competent authority, translation and delivery.

Tell us the document, its issuer, destination country and intended use, and your deadline. We will review preparation, translation and delivery options before confirming an estimate and timing. Ask for instructions before mailing originals. Please mail with a tracking number.

  • Request the appropriate certified record from the court custodian instead of notarizing an ordinary photocopy of a court record.
  • Confirm whether the recipient needs the complete judgment, a finality statement, amendments or supporting pages.
  • Check names, case details and translation requirements against the receiving office’s written instructions.
Will an apostille make a court decision enforceable abroad?

It authenticates the relevant public signature. Recognition or enforcement is a separate matter for the receiving court or competent professional.

What should I confirm before requesting an estimate?

Provide the document, issuer, destination, intended use, number of copies and deadline. Include the recipient’s checklist if available. This allows preparation, certification, translation and delivery to be reviewed before a cost estimate is confirmed.
