Nebraska apostille services and document preparation

Paying for a Nebraska apostille online does not finish the document submission. The original record still needs to reach the state office. Miami Dade Apostille can review your document, destination and deadline and coordinate vital and court records, diplomas, transcripts, powers of attorney, affidavits and corporate documents. We are a private coordinator, not a government office or law firm.

Before you start

  1. Identify the document type and the office that issued it.
  2. Confirm the destination country's treaty relationship and the receiving authority's requirements.
  3. Send us a scan for preparation review before committing originals.

Online payment still requires document delivery

  • Nebraska requires an original document signed by a Nebraska notary or eligible state or county official.
  • If paying online, include the transaction receipt when delivering the documents by mail or in person.
  • Alternatively, send the printed request form and payment.
  • Where different notaries sign the same document, fees can apply to each notarization; incorrect payment can delay processing.
  • Confirm unusual documents with the Notary Division at 402-471-2558 before submission.

Order the underlying vital record first

  • Nebraska's official portal offers certified birth, death, marriage and dissolution certificates for Nebraska events.
  • Applicants must meet the state's proper-purpose requirements; availability online does not mean every person may request every record.
  • Read the applicable requirements and choose the correct certificate before paying.
  • The portal does not offer expedited shipping.
  • Certificate ordering and Secretary of State authentication are separate processes — allow for both when planning a deadline.

A divorce certificate is different from the decree

  • Nebraska Vital Records has registered divorces since 1909.
  • To obtain the actual divorce decree, contact the District Court in the county where the divorce was granted.
  • That court is also the contact for pre-1909 records.
  • The certificate application asks for the purpose of the request and the applicant's relationship to the person on the record, and requires photo identification for mailed requests.
  • Ask the receiving authority whether it requires the decree rather than a dissolution certificate.

University of Nebraska–Lincoln certified copies

  • UNL's Registrar provides authenticated and notarized copies of its own transcripts, diplomas, enrollment and degree verifications.
  • A diploma request needs a photocopy of the original; the university does not retain diploma copies.
  • If the original is unavailable, arrange a replacement.
  • Student-account holds must be cleared before transcript or diploma requests are processed.
  • On request, the Registrar can forward certified copies to the Secretary of State — contact the office for package instructions.
  • These are UNL procedures, not a rule for every Nebraska school.

Use the correct postal or courier address

  • The state form requests the destination country, document type, contact details and any different return address.
  • Include a return envelope or label; otherwise the form states that standard postage will be used.
  • Check the current form for payment instructions before shipping.

State routing, federal records and the destination

  • A Nebraska certificate authenticates the relevant official or notarial signature.
  • Destination requirements determine apostille versus authentication and further legalization.
  • Confirm the applicable treaty relationship and recipient's requirements rather than assuming universal acceptance.
  • FBI background checks and other federal-agency documents use the federal process, not Nebraska's state-document route.
  • Keep a separate list of documents from other states so each can follow its own issuing authority.
  • Florida remote online notarization may be available for eligible private documents, subject to identity, witness, document and recipient requirements. It follows the applicable Florida route and does not turn a Nebraska public record into a Florida record.
