New Jersey apostille services and document preparation
New Jersey document preparation depends on who issued or signed the record. A birth certificate, divorce judgment and university transcript start with different offices. Miami Dade Apostille can review vital, court, school, corporate and notarized private documents and coordinate the appropriate process. We are a private coordinator, not a government office or law firm.
Before you start
- Identify the document type and the office that issued it.
- Confirm the destination country's treaty relationship and the receiving authority's requirements.
- Send us a scan for preparation review before committing originals.
Choose the correct vital-record copy
- For an apostille, request a certified copy from the New Jersey Office of Vital Statistics and Registry and mark the application for apostille use.
- This produces a record with the original State Registrar or Assistant/Deputy Registrar signature, which can then be forwarded to Treasury for authentication.
- A plain-paper certification is an informational record and is not valid for legal purposes — do not confuse it with a certified copy on state safety paper.
- Record applications require identification, the correct fee and, for certified copies, proof of relationship.
- Include a marriage certificate if it documents a name change.
- Check current ordering instructions before visiting or mailing; the Health page reflects a June 2026 payment change at its Front Street location.
Divorce judgments come through the courts
- Request a certified Final Judgment of Divorce through the Superior Court Clerk's Office.
- Provide the docket number, case title, county and document requested.
- Without a docket number, provide both parties' names, the county and approximate year.
- Some judgments remain with the county Family Division, so the search can result in referral there.
- Tell the clerk the copy is intended for foreign use and confirm the required authentication before sending it onward.
- Identify any accompanying orders the recipient needs; a summary of an event may not satisfy a request for the judgment itself.
Rutgers and other school credentials
- Rutgers students can ask the Registrar's Office to notarize a diploma or transcript.
- The apostille is a separate government process outside the university.
- Questions can be directed to [email protected].
- For another institution, contact its own registrar with the recipient's instructions.
- Confirm whether the request is for a transcript, diploma or enrollment verification before arranging preparation; do not assume a digital credential or downloaded student copy meets the requested format.
Prepare the Treasury submission
- New Jersey Treasury's Division of Revenue and Enterprise Services authenticates eligible New Jersey officials and notaries.
- Submit the original or certified record with its original official certification or notarization.
- For notarized private documents, Treasury requires original ink signatures from both the New Jersey notary and the signer.
- Its online service accepts the request and payment, then supplies a confirmation to accompany physical documents sent or dropped off.
- Online payment alone does not submit the records — physical documents must follow with the confirmation.
- Follow the current online service for delivery instructions, fees and processing information.
- Keep the attached apostille or certification stapled to the document.
Keep state, federal and destination requirements separate
- New Jersey cannot apostille another state's vital record — use the issuing state.
- Treasury issues an apostille or public-official certification according to the destination.
- Confirm the applicable treaty relationship and any additional legalization with the receiving authority.
Review the complete document package
- An FBI background check or other federal document requires separate federal handling.
- Translation, document age and recipient-specific formats also need review; authentication does not guarantee acceptance of the contents.
- For an eligible private document, Florida remote online notarization may be an option subject to identity, witness, document and recipient requirements.
- That follows the applicable Florida route and cannot turn a New Jersey public record into a Florida record.

How Miami Dade Apostille can help
- Send your document type, issuing office, destination country and deadline before mailing originals. We can review preparation, coordinate the appropriate process and discuss translations with qualified translators.
- Government processing and delivery remain separate from our initial review. Acceptance also depends on the recipient's document, format and translation requirements.
