New Hampshire apostille services and document preparation

New Hampshire requires special preparation for vital records intended for apostille. Ask the issuing office for the correct notarized record before sending it for authentication. Miami Dade Apostille can review your document type, destination and deadline and coordinate vital, court, school, corporate and notarized private documents. We are a private coordinator, not a government office or law firm.

Before you start

  1. Identify the document type and the office that issued it.
  2. Confirm the destination country's treaty relationship and the receiving authority's requirements.
  3. Send us a scan for preparation review before committing originals.

Request an original notarized vital record

  • For a birth, death or marriage record, request the original notarized copy from the issuing town or city clerk or the Division of Vital Records Administration.
  • Do not substitute your own photocopy.
  • The Secretary of State requires the document author's signature to be witnessed by a New Hampshire notary or justice of the peace; a notary's seal must be included.
  • The Secretary of State does not perform this preparatory notarization.

Eligibility and identification for record orders

  • DVRA supplies certified records to qualified applicants with a direct and tangible interest.
  • Submit the application, payment in U.S. funds and identification.
  • An alternative documentary-evidence form is available when acceptable picture identification is unavailable.
  • The record-ordering address is DVRA, Registration/Certification, 9 Ratification Way, Concord, NH 03301-2455.
  • This is a different address from the apostille submission address — do not send record orders to the Secretary of State's apostille office.
  • Use the current forms for third-party access or an additional mailing address when applicable.

Divorce records: contact the division or granting court

  • New Hampshire law directs written requests for divorce, legal-separation or civil-annulment records to the division or the court that granted the case.
  • Access to a certified record requires a direct and tangible interest.
  • The statute also provides for the court clerk to complete the applicable apostille-record preparation.
  • If the recipient needs the full decree and accompanying orders, identify those documents when contacting the granting court rather than assuming a vital-record certificate will suffice.

School records and UNH electronic diplomas

  • Ask your school's registrar how to prepare the precise transcript, diploma or verification requested abroad.
  • UNH provides an online CeDiploma validation service and directs apostille questions to [email protected].
  • Electronic validation can help a recipient verify a credential, but do not assume it replaces that recipient's required apostille or paper format.
  • Obtain the receiving authority's instructions and discuss them with the registrar before ordering replacements or arranging notarization.

Submit the completed authentication package

  • Mail the completed request form, correctly prepared documents, payment and prepaid return envelope to: Secretary of State's Office, Room 204, 107 North Main Street, Concord, NH 03301.
  • Confirm current fees and availability before visiting; larger batches may require additional time or an expedited fee.
  • Include enough time for obtaining the underlying record and delivery as well as authentication.

Match the document and destination to the correct route

  • FBI background checks and other federal documents follow the federal route rather than New Hampshire's state process.
  • The destination and applicable treaty relationship determine apostille versus certification and further legalization.
  • Authentication does not guarantee acceptance of a document's contents, format or translation.
  • Keep records issued in other states separate so each follows its proper authority.
  • Florida remote online notarization may be available for eligible private documents, subject to identity, witness, document and recipient requirements. It follows the applicable Florida route and does not replace preparation by the New Hampshire record issuer.
